Mantra is a Activated Shochu, hand-made by Don Evlito and brewed — drop by drop — at the Dropbydrop.club home brewery in the cold heart of Ulaanbaatar.

We believe a drink carries the intention it was made with. So every batch is small, every step is done by hand, and every bottle leaves us with a blessing. This globe is our story; each glowing window opens a chapter of how the sake is made.

For the first time in our city, UB, spirit bottles are given a second life. We gather our glass from a trusted few — the nightclubs and hipster bars that keep the city awake — then wash, bless and refill them by hand.

Nothing is wasted; everything is honoured.

We begin with high-quality Japanese rice and the supreme, authentic yeast of the Akita region — a strain first cultivated in 1935. This cold-tolerant yeast wakes slowly in our northern winters, unfolding bright, vibrant ginjo aromas tuned, at last, for Mongolian taste buds.

While the spirit distils, we recite mantra over the vessel. Words carry frequency, and frequency shapes water — a truth Japanese researchers have shown in crystal after crystal. Speak “love” to water and it freezes into something symmetrical and beautiful.

At the Drop by Drop home brewery we pour our whole hearts and purest intentions into every batch, so that whoever drinks it feels the joy we brewed in.

Limited batch, entirely hand-made, carefully and slowly crafted. We release only twenty-one bottles each month — three of which are set aside and auctioned at the city’s premium bars.

Of the twenty-one bottles we hand-make each month, three are set apart — a special batch, brewed for one night only: the auction.

These three are formulated with our most precious rice and a rarer, costlier koji — the deepest, most decadent expression of everything Mantra can become.

But the real reason they go under the hammer is the art. Each month a secret guest — a genuinely gifted underground artist — hand-paints the label straight onto the recycled bottle. What they paint is never revealed beforehand. The bottle is as much a canvas as it is a vessel; you bid on a mystery.

In the thirteenth century the Mongol Empire swept across the Korean peninsula, and with the armies, scholars and craftsmen travelled something quieter: the art of distillation. A still simple enough to carry with an army moved from camp to camp, court to court.

Korea had no abundance of mare's milk, so the method changed again — applied to fermented rice and barley until it became the drink we now call soju. The same portable technique is echoed in stills later found in the Philippines and western Mexico, carried across the Pacific aboard the Manila galleons toward the traditions of mezcal and tequila.

The Mongols may not have invented distillation. They helped it become global — an accelerator connecting separated worlds. Another history survives inside the glass: of milk and grain, of vapour caught beneath a lid, of knowledge moving from civilisation to civilisation until no single nation could claim it entirely.

Long before written language, humans carved spirals into stone, painted geometry onto cave walls and aligned temples with the stars. Across distant civilisations remarkably similar forms kept emerging — as though they reflected something deeper than culture alone.

Today we call these patterns Light Codes. The name is modern; the idea is ancient — sacred geometry, yantras, mandalas, ceremonial calligraphy, all circling one timeless question: can information live in form itself? Not only in words, but in proportion, in rhythm, in symmetry, in light.

For us a Light Code is an intentional composition of form — not designed to tell you what to believe, but to invite a different way of seeing. Sake is an unexpected canvas: rice begins as sunlight, rain and time, and every bottle is, in a sense, stored sunlight shaped by human hands.

We are presenting DJ Eda — our talented house artist, a groove-maker and 3x3 National Basketball host based in the Red City, aka Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Her mixes are inspired by melodic magical loops, sounds from the future & past, anime and advert jingles. Eda draws from everything and anything that takes you somewhere — always $oulful. She had her debut at DunzenGarav, an iconic underground club in UB, and continues to play for her community through local shows.
